“I am he”
When Easter approaches each year, many people turn their thoughts to the events leading up to, and surrounding, the crucifixion of our Lord Jesus Christ. As I was reading in Isaiah, I came across something that turned my thoughts to one of those events, which occurs in John 18 as Jesus and his disciples are in the garden…
Interpretation
While reading in Ezra chapter 4 recently, I took note of the words pertaining to a letter that was written – that it was written in the Syrian tongue, and interpreted in the Syrian tongue, and that a copy of the letter was sent. It was not lost on me that only when it comes to God’s word, do people question the accuracy of an interpretation, or the exactness of the copy, compared to “the original.” They accept accuracy and exactness (or aren’t worried about it) when it comes from men. But when it comes from God, the serpent’s voice inevitably echoes from garden, “Yea, hath God said…?” followed by the offering of other words instead…
Understanding the Deep Things of God
In our very first meeting of the King James Bible study, on October 7, 2017, we opened with a reading of 1 Corinthans chapter 2 (the entire chapter). We then went through a foundational study, Understanding the Deep Things of God, pertaining to what is needful to be able to understand the deep things of God (1 Corinthians 2:10)…
The Gospel, According to … Job
The gospel has been preached since the beginning of the creation, and can be seen in Genesis, and … in Job. Salvation is the same today for us as it was roughly 4000 years ago for Job. And Job knew the gospel … “for I know that my redeemer liveth” (Job 19:25).
Salvation
The Bible makes it clear: you must believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Believing on/in/upon the Lord Jesus Christ involves a response to the gospel of salvation that is heard – what the scripture calls the obedience of faith. Jesus Christ’s call is open to all who will obey it: For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Romans 10:13)
King James Bible Study – The Purpose
The purpose of this KJV Bible Study – both the meetings, and this website – is to read and study together the written word of God, asking God to be our teacher and to inspire his word to our understanding, that we may search out the deep things of God (1 Corinthians 2:10) and stand in awe of his word (Psalm 119:161), and of the Word made flesh – Jesus Christ our Lord – of whom the written word testifies.
How do the scriptures define “shew”?
Daniel chapter 5 gives us an example of one of the ways in which God defines his words within the text of scripture itself, thus “shewing” that his word has its own internal dictionary, and that his word is all we need.
