Description
While we “know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh”…“For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be” (Matthew 25:13, 24:27 – also Matthew 24:36, 24:50, Mark 13:32, Luke 12:46) … ought we to at least know that the storm is approaching? Or, in keeping with God’s word, ought we to be able to know that the time is near?
Matthew 24:32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that
summer is nigh:
Matthew 24:33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
Just how close are we to the time of the Lord Jesus Christ’s return? Is it near? Can we know that it is near? And what should we be doing about it (now more than ever before)?
The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.
(Romans 13:12)
These words are preceded by an admonition that we ought to know the time…
And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
(Romans 13:11)
And we are also to be “hasting” unto that day…
Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God…
(2 Peter 3:12)
